Energy Codes and Metal Buildings
Energy Codes and Metal Buildings
California’s Energy Commissioner Andrew McAllister recently stated, “The buildings that Californians buy and live in will operate very efficiently while generating their own clean energy. They will cost less to operate, have healthy indoor air and provide a platform for ‘smart technologies that will propel the state even further down the road to a low emissions future.”
In January 2020, the latest update to the Title 24 Building Energy Efficiency Standards will go into effect. These new codes are in line with the state of California’s goals to reach NetZero carbon emissions by 2030 and include stipulations for reducing wasteful energy consumption, LED technology, solar power generation, and insulation standards.

At the forefront of this new wave of improved energy-efficient building design are metal buildings. Metal buildings not only provide the infrastructure to achieve NetZero, but they are also more cost-effective over the life of the building. In residential buildings, these changes will include photovoltaic solar generation systems, while in commercial or industrial buildings, the standards make maximum use of LED lighting technology.
EcoSteel provides prefabricated metal building construction with NetZero capabilities in alignment with California’s Title 24 energy efficiency codes. Our NetZero metal buildings are designed for maximum efficiency with air-tight construction and premium insulation that improves the building’s thermal envelope.
If you’re thinking of constructing a new building in 2020, metal buildings are certainly the easiest and most convenient way to go. Our prefabricated kits are designed and manufactured to easily comply with improved energy efficiency standards. And since we handle every step of the process from design to production to delivery, you don’t have to worry about miscommunications between subcontractors that could jeopardize the building’s ability to meet energy codes and efficiency standards.
California’s Building Energy Efficiency codes are changing and improving, and luckily, our technology is too. Our metal buildings are here to serve the changing needs and demands of our clients, all while moving towards a NetZero future.
