This custom modern steel home was designed by the award winning Anderson Anderson Architecture team from Seattle. Natural light and functional design combine with extreme temperatures and ice/snow management. The steel frame structure and insulated roof and wall panels create durable shelter for the harsh winter environment. The Hunter Mountain house is located on a remote building site and will be used as a mountain retreat for a young family in New York City.

At just under 2,000SF of living area, the home takes advantage of sweeping views toward the Hunter Mountain Ski Runs. Exposed structural framing behind folding doors of glass create a visual impact of strength and minimalism. Galvalume roof and wall panel finish will patina with age and provide generations of use while blending in with the rustic surroundings.

Ultra Luxe Custom Residence

The Ultra Luxe Custom Residence has a 2,700 square feet main house with double ceiling height living room and indoor/outdoor kitchen facing the adjacent lake. On the ground floor there are also a guest bedroom and two office spaces for both husband and wife, while on the second floor the master bedroom overlooks the entry and the living space, and is connected to a 300 square feet walk in closet and master bath with indoor/outdoor Jacuzzi.

The main house attached two car garage leads to a covered pathway to reach the “toy garage”, designed to display twelve collectible exotic vehicles. This larger building is connected to a lounge area and a gym, which are facing on one side the lake looking through a garden, and on the other side the vehicles.

Both buildings are designed making use of steel structure with insulated metal panels cladding on the exterior walls and insulated metal roof paneling. The roof lines fold and wrap around some facades to connect into a continuous and sinuous shape; some walls have accents with concrete finish or gray stack stone which are softly grazed by lights placed around the walls to enhance the all steel panel and trim design.

Custom Modern Prefab Beach Home

Ardmore Residence, a Custom Modern Prefab Home

The Ardmore Residence, a Custom Modern Prefab Home that takes advantage of Code Restrictions to retain portions of an existing structure. The EcoSteel System creates a huge value in this 2,300 square foot house located in Hermosa Beach, CA. The project was designed by EcoSteel’s own Paolo Volpis.

The project is quite unique, in fact, the existing building, which is to remain, is a CMU block construction previously used as manufacturing facility.

After a Zone change from M to R2, the new residential building was designed to infill the existing shell, which is built on the property lines. In this way, the design could maximize the square footage of the new residence and take full advantage of a site located in a prime area but otherwise too small for a single family dwelling.

The new steel construction is meant to retrofit and support the existing building and support the new 3 stories structure. The new shell is designed around the setback lines and portions of the existing perimeter will be preserved above the first floor to create handrails or supports for green walls facing the interior spaces.

The design takes full advantage of the existing site conditions, to maximize living space and create privacy screens otherwise not allowed to be built in these locations.
